Some departments may have specific graduate fellowships for which students may apply; students should contact their departments.
Tuition benefits are available for many graduate students. Features of The Graduate School tuition benefit program:
- Covers teaching assistants, research assistants, graduate assistants, and graduate fellows.
- Students qualify by being financially supported in departments.
- Full or partial in-state and out-of-state tuition paid depending on support level from department.
- Two years of benefits for master's students, an additional three or four years for doctoral students.

The University's Financial Aid and Scholarships Office assists graduate students in meeting the costs of their education through loans and the federal work-study program. Loans are low-interest awards that must be repaid after enrollment ceases. The work-study program provides need-based awards for which students work and are paid biweekly. Both programs are subject to the restrictions of available funding.
Art museums. Concert halls. Tennis courts. Computer labs. The University campus is rather like a large park devoted to learning. Home to the state's official arboretum and situated on 1,500 acres just minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, the campus makes living and learning here a pleasure.
One hundred forty-four newly constructed apartments in six buildings make up this community designed for graduate students. Apartments come furnished or unfurnished and include laundry hookups, dishwashers, indoor bike storage, and satellite TV. Prices per person range from $415 to $453 per month; prices for an unfurnished family apartment range from $788 to $1,041 per month.
Housing for singles, married people, families, faculty, and staff is available in University apartment communities.
Medical Plaza Twin Towers
This community includes two 14-story apartment towers and a townhouse complex located adjacent to University Hospital, which is located on campus.
Living in the Community
The U is surrounded by charming residential neighborhoods. Many apartments in the $400-600 range are within walking distance of campus or close to public transportation.
