The University of Utah has recently issued guidance that international travel for all students across campus has been canceled due to the coronavirus issue. Domestic travel may also be affected as states declare a state of emergency. Please visit the Department of Public Safety’s website for up to date information on travel restrictions.
The Graduate School will work with Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Travel Award awardees and departments to mitigate the financial impact of any cancelation of travel plans due to the University’s coronavirus-related restrictions on student travel. Students who must cancel their trip should seek reimbursement for any fees and travel-related expenses, and recover as much of the funds as possible. Regarding the residual funds, the Graduate School will work with departments to reimburse the non-refundable parts of the travel, up to the value of the Graduate Student or Postdoctoral travel award.
Students and Postdocs will submit documentation regarding the non-refundable part of their travel to the department and Graduate School for reimbursement.
In addition, students who have had their trips canceled due to the University travel restrictions will become automatically re-eligible for another travel award in lieu of their canceled itinerary.
