Professional Development Seminar Series Spring 2025

The seminar series are open to all graduate students and post docs. As these are interactive sessions,
space is limited and registration is required. 

 

Developing Your Leadership Skills

The focus of this seminar series is to provide participants with opportunities to reflect on their leadership style, personal career development and to enhance or develop skills in a number of specific areas including defining personal success, working with others optimally, building collaborative relationships, challenging conversations, conflict navigation, mentoring and negotiation. Supervising Work & People

In this seminar series, we will explore the essentials of supervision including hiring and onboarding, setting clear job expectations, optimizing employee engagement, optimizing employee performance, keeping work moving, time management and prioritization. As part of the seminar series, we will build a portfolio of tools and resources to help you be successful in your first supervisory role. REGISTER HERE

In this series, participants will be able to actively work on a current, or future, conference talk or poster session. Embedded within the series are multiple opportunities to present in “real time”. Topics will include making your content accessible to the audience, slide/poster design, audience engagement, in-person and virtual formats, handling questions and finishing strong. REGISTER HERE.
